The Jersey Central was an anthracite coal hauling railroad which extended from Jersey City to Scranton Pennsylvania. Known for its lady _Liberty herald and unique paint schemes, the Jersey Central was a favorite among railfans. In volume 1 of Along the Jersey Central, we_ll look at steam and first generation diesel operations from Jersey to Jim Thorpe, between the late 1940_s to the early 1960_s through the films of Charlie & Ken Bealer, the Randolph Kulp collection of the Lehigh Valley Chapter and the Arthur Angstadt collection. We begin with a steam farewell fan trip in Jersey and then proceed west to Phillipsburg, NJ and into Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania, passenger and freight operations at Bethlehem Station, Bethlehem Engine Terminal, Allentown Yard, the Allentown Terminal Railroad and more are featured.
