58 Minutes
The “Berkshire Montage Series” is a news style, year-in-review program.
This
video starts with coverage of the Blue Mountain & Reading
Railroad’s first annual railfan weekend. This event turned out to be the
sleeping giant of the year. GM&N 4-6-2 #425, ex-Reading 4-8-4
#2102, ex-Reading GP-30 #5513, Pennsy E8’s in their original livery, and
RDC’s are all featured in this story.
Story number 2 takes
you to Baraboo, Wisconsin for what has become an annual tradition, the
great parade of the circus train. Led by the Mid-Continent Railway
Museum’s Ex-C&NW ten-wheeler #1385, you’ll see the circus train on
its two-day journey across Wisconsin. Plenty of runbys in this one.
Story
number 3 features Norfolk & Western’s big 4-8-4, Class J, #611 on
runs east out of Bellevue, Ohio to Buffalo, New York, and south out of
Bellevue to Columbus, Ohio. We’ll take you trackside over twenty
different times! You’ll see 611 on the Nickel Plate’s bridges at
Cleveland and Conneaut, plus 60 mph running through the flat lands of
Ohio.
The last story in this video is about 765’s remarkable
comeback in the fall of 1986. We’ll take you behind the scenes for the
filming of “Matewan” in Thurmond, WV, then it’s off through the New
River Gorge between Huntington and Hinton for the fall New River trains.
Cab scenes, pacing, and over twenty runbys, make for a fitting
conclusion to Volume 2 of the Berkshire Montage Series!
