The “Berkshire Montage Series” is a news style, year-in-review program.
Volume
3 starts out with one of the largest and most powerful locomotives ever
built: N&W’s #1218. Follow this “Awesome” machine on her three day
ferry move from Birmingham, AL to Roanoke, VA and then on her inaugural
runs from Roanoke. This story also includes August coverage of 1218 on
runs from Kenova, West Virginia, plus Columbus, Bellevue, and Toledo,
Ohio.
In story two, we’ll go to Altoona, PA for a look at
Pennsylvania Railroad K4s No. 1361. We’ll show you see some restoration
scenes, lots of runbys, and more.
Story three takes us to the
Gettysburg Railroad. You’ll see locomotive number 76 switching the
Gettysburg yard, then you’ll hop on board for a ride to Biglerville
through the historic Gettysburg battlefields.
Story four
covers the re-opening of the Kinzua Viaduct. At one time this elegant
structure was the highest and longest railroad bridge in the world.
Ex-Huntington & Broad Top #38 provides the motive power.
Story
five takes us on a journey through fall colors in a glorious October
weekend watching freight trains and passenger specials in Virginia, West
Virginia, and Ohio. Southern FP7’s, freights on Allegheny Mountain, and
NKP 765 on her return home after trips in the New River Gorge.
In
story six we head off to Steamtown. Ex-CN 3254 as Lackawanna 1271, plus
Lackawanna diesels #514 and 880 handle the daily chores in this one.
The
final story in this video covers a special run of two ex-PRR E8’s
number 5706 and 5898. Rockville Viaduct, Lewistown, Huntington and
Horseshoe curve all thrilled to the passing of these famous old diesels
from EMD.
