The Central Vermont Railway ran from its connection with the Canadian National Railway at East Swanton, Vermont, on the Canadian border to New London, Connecticut.  Starting in 1938 and during the ensuing 57 years many a mile was driven by the author and his childhood friend, Stanwood K. Bolton, chasing the Central Vermont. The Central Vermont that they covered in the late 1940s & 1950s offered a combination of branch line operation as well as big time main line railroading.  There will be a couple of side trips, one up the Richford Branch and another into Montpelier.
