This book covers the C&O's part in the huge and fabulously successful system operated by the United States Post Office's railway mail service. The history covers from 1847, when the first mail was carried by the Louisa Railroad, up until 1969 when the last railway post offices operated on the C&O. History, lists of RPO routes, photos, and mechanical data on the cars, and much other information gives a brief appreciation of this important element of the C&O's passenger train operations.
