The Central Railroad of New Jersey best exemplified the importance of the railroad/industrial presence in Jersey City. The CNJ's passenger terminal, freight yards, multitude of factory and warehouse sidings and its four track high speed main proved that this small railroad was a major player in the compact, high density world of rail and river transportation that Jersey City was so well know for.
