For nearly 100 years the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway operated a number of piers at Newport News, Va. This ocean port was the C&O's main access point to shipping all over the world. The piers supported the shipment of coal, iron ore, grain and general merchandise of all of types, as well as passenger and freight traffic across Hampton Roads to Norfolk. This book tells the entire story of the piers.
