When Frederic C. “Buck” Dumaine, Jr. assumed the presidency of the
D&H, he devised a plan to revitalize daytime through service with
newer rolling stock. The Delaware & Hudson ran clean, comfortable
passenger trains during a time when that was uncommon among other roads.
Although the revitalized service was brief as it came on the threshold
of Amtrak, it remains a credit to the D&H and its loyal employees.
