This is a look at the O&W bridge over the East Branch of the Delaware River at Fish's Eddy. This begins with the arrival of the New York & Oswego Midland at Fish's Eddy and the construction of a wooden Howe Truss bridge over the river and its replacement with an iron Pratt Truss. The book examines the design and engineering behind a Pratt Truss before taking a closer look at the collapse of 1886. Also examined is James E Childs and the O&W bridge protection system he developed. The book also examines the 1897 collapse of the bridge and its causes.
